Our funds – looking after you and your family
With assets totalling more than £2.5 million pounds the Institute will look after you and your family in times of need.
Our charities have been providing financial assistance to its members and their families for more than 100 years and provide in excess of £40,000 in grants every year – the CIoJ is the only organisation for journalists which offers such extensive charitable help when most needed.
The Orphan Fund
Provides a monthly grant to the orphans of members, up to the time they leave full-time education. It also provides a birthday gift and Christmas gift, a summer holiday grant as well as one-off grants for special projects or courses.
The Pension Fund
Provides a small monthly payment to members who find themselves in financial difficulty once they have retired. The Fund also gives a financial birthday and Christmas gift to its pensioners.
The Oakhill & T P O’Connor Fund
Provides grants towards convalescent and other costs, for members recovering after serious illnesses or medical treatment.
The Benevolent (and Widows) Fund
Provides grants and interest-free loans to members who may need short term financial assistance.
