He was a tremendous asset to the Institute during some pretty turbulent times. [When haven’t there been turbulent times in journalism]. His counsel was authoritative and gretaly welcomed and his steely determination and quick Scottish wit ensured that Council meetings were never boring. I have fond memories of both Jim and his wife Joan. Sincere condolences to his daughters and family.
