<description>Jim was a great guy who served the Institute extremely well. He was a tremendous asset to the Institute during some pretty turbulent times. [When haven’t there been turbulent times in journalism]. His counsel was authoritative and gretaly welcomed and his steely determination and quick Scottish wit ensured that Council meetings were never boring.

<description>I was so sad to hear of the passing of Jim Paterson...he was an inspiration to work for.Jim recruited me direct from Goldsmiths College to work as a Membership Secretary and trained me to do the job. I have fond memories of both Jim and his wife Joan. Sincere condolences to his daughters and family.
Kind regards
